I've got a new favorite show.
Someone (and I don't remember who it was, exactly) suggested that Orphan Black was a really great show, and that I should watch it. It's currently in the second season, so there wasn't a whole lot to catch up on, so I decided to give it a shot.
A few weekends ago, we started with the pilot. I don't want to give you any spoilers, so let's just start with the first 20 minutes or so of the show. There's this woman named Sarah, who's an edgy street-smart hustler. She's standing on a train platform, when she sees a professionally dressed woman at the other end of the platform, pacing back and forth, clearly agitated. As she approaches the other woman, she sees the woman remove her shoes and set down her purse. Just as Sarah gets close, the woman turns, looks at her, and the woman looks exactly like Sarah! At that moment, the professional woman hurls herself in front of an oncoming train. Sarah decides to assume the other woman's identity, hoping to clean out the dead woman's bank account. But in the process, Sarah quickly finds herself caught in the middle of a mystery-filled conspiracy.
Are you hooked, yet? Watch this show. It's awesome.
We watched two episodes on Saturday night, and then spent all day Sunday burning through the rest of Season One. Now that we're caught up, we're DVRing it. It gets better and better with every episode.
