May 4 David and I went to get Barbeque for lunch, and I decided to take a selfie of us. Isn't he adorable?
May 5 We got an e-mail from a producer of a Food Network show, asking if we'd be willing to let them use our garden for a shoot about grilling. As part of the e-mail exchange, she asked for a picture of our kitchen, since they might need to use it for prep, as well. So, I took this photo, but then she never bothered to follow up with us. What the hell?
May 6 I had a week full of theatre this week. On Tuesday, I was waiting for my dear friend Kristine, for pre-theatre nibbles, and I ordered a Jim Beam. The woman sitting next to me was thrilled! She said, "OH MY GOD! SOMEONE ORDERED JIM BEAM BY NAME!" She didn't actually shout it, as the caps connote, but she had a New York accent, and her voice was definitely louder than was appropriate for the room, so, you get the picture. She told me that she sold Jim Beam, and that she didn't understand why more people didn't go for Jim, instead of Jack Daniels or other bourbons. I agreed and tried to chat her up a bit, hoping that she'd pull out a giant 1.75 liter cube of Beam from her purse and give it to me as a sample. But that didn't happen. Anyway, I decided to celebrate that moment by taking a picture of my drink.
May 7 On Wednesday, I went to Melt Shop to get a quick bite before the theatre. I got their patty melt, which was completely delicious. I managed to photograph it before I devoured the thing. Holy Christmas, was it ever good.
May 8 I saw Aladdin on Broadway, and the New Amsterdam Theatre is just so beautiful. There's a little bar area downstairs that's completely charming, so that was my picture.
May 9 Opera. The last one of the season. Madama Butterfly. Maybe the last one for a good long while. The Metropolitan Opera is trying to bust their unions--proposing nearly a 20% wage reduction for their singers, all so that they can continue to overbuild these monstrous less-than-successful productions. Anyway, whether there's a lockout next season or not, I didn't feel like I could renew my subscription when they're not negotiating fairly with their unions. So, I'm going to be a single-ticket buyer from now on. #SaveTheMet
May 10 The day's not even begun, really, but I've decided that my picture would be of the white lilac in our garden, that's blooming right now. It smells completely gorgeous.
